It was reported that "53443" is merely the number of seats in the spectator stands of the White Egret Stadium when it was used as a comprehensive athletics venue. After being converted to the football field mode, the number of seats can be increased to 60,592. This is also the first stadium in China and the third in the world that can freely convert between a professional football field and a comprehensive athletics venue.

The key to transforming "53443" into "60592" lied beneath the ground grandstand level. Xu Bailin said that at the design stage, in order to achieve this mode conversion, after weighing multiple factors such as construction cost, usage efficiency, and later maintenance, the project ultimately designed a brand-new movable grandstand conversion scheme in the form of independent research and development - the shallow ring pit hoisting conversion method.

In other words, there are still 18 folding seat platform modules hidden in the shallow pit beneath the stands of the White Egret Stadium. When necessary, 10 ground grandstand movement modules with pulleys will move towards the core of the venue. Within the space occupied at the rear, cranes will lift and assemble these folding seat platform modules, each weighing over 9,000 tons, one by one, like "Building blocks", forming another movable platform within the venue that can accommodate more than 7,000 spectators.

Xu Bailin said: The Egret Stadium is the first in China and the third in the world to have a mode conversion. Compared with the other two stadiums in the world (the Stade de France and the National Stadium of Singapore), which achieved functional conversion through the deep foundation pit hydraulic cylinder lifting method, the Egret Stadium, which adopts the shallow ring pit lifting conversion method, The step of "deploying hydraulic lifting machinery under the activity platform" was omitted, which not only saved a large amount of initial investment and later maintenance costs for the project, but also further optimized the construction plan.

Carefully selected grass seeds and meticulously maintained

It was reported that the football field of the Egret Stadium measures approximately 105 by 68 meters and is built in accordance with FIFA standards, with a lawn area of about 7,763 square meters. As a dedicated venue that will be used to host top domestic and international football events in the future, the White Egret Stadium pays great attention to the selection and maintenance of the grass.

In the early stage of construction, the project department set up a turf test area around the stadium, carefully selecting five professional grass seeds suitable for the local area for trials. After multiple rounds of analysis, the "LAN Yin No. 3" professional grass seed, which is suitable for the local conditions, was finally chosen. According to Xu Bailin, the on-site manager of the White Egret Stadium of Xiamen Road and Bridge Engineering Company, this grass species not only has the characteristics of being wear-resistant and trampling resistant, but also is very "shade-tolerant". Even if it does not receive sufficient sunlight for a period of time, it can still remain lush and green every leaf.

Completing the construction is just the first step. Proper maintenance is the key to keeping the football field usable for a long time. It is understood that in addition to strengthening manual maintenance, the project department has also planned a complete vacuum drainage system and underground ventilation system in advance under the football field based on the local climate characteristics, enabling this grassland to "breathe".

As a coastal city in the southeast, heavy rainfall is a common occurrence. To address the problem of water accumulation on the lawn, we have pre-buried drainage and ventilation pipes underground in the field core. When water accumulates, the high-power fans connected to the pipes will continuously "suck in air", creating a negative pressure inside the pipes, which will "suck" the water in the lawn into the pipes, accelerating the seepage and drainage. Conversely, the fan can also control the oxygen content, temperature and humidity of the lawn within a reasonable range through the pipeline by "exhaling", promoting the growth of green grass. Xu Bailin said that the drainage efficiency of this system is excellent. In heavy rain, there is almost no water accumulation on the lawn. According to the design conditions, this venue can basically meet the normal competition requirements under heavy rain conditions.

Professional prefabricated rubber running tracks

It is reported that the surface layer of the track in the core of the White Egret Stadium is made of professional prefabricated rubber track. The thickness is selected according to the division of different track and field event areas, with the maximum thickness reaching 25mm. Base grinding can control the balance of the track surface layer, ensuring that it meets the acceptance standards of the Chinese Athletics Association and the International Association of Athletics Federations.
